Too Cool For School is one of those brands with such amazing packaging and branding, and if product quality is never a consideration, TCFS is my number one Korean brand. But alas, I have mixed reviews on their products. Today, I'm reviewing Too Cool For School's Roll Lip Pop.
Cute artful packaging aside, will this lip balm be a winner or a flop? Read on to know more.
As with my other mishaps with the brand, this product did not come with an ingredient list on its very creative box. So as out-of-character this may be for Pas-Sosyal, an in-depth discussion of its ingredients would not be tackled, giving focus on the product's value for money and performance alone.
This lip balm cost 495 pesos (11 USD) and was bought from TCFS SM North EDSA branch. Having worked with lip balms less than 200 pesos (one of them from a Korean brand, too), I find the price tag quite hefty. Heck, even a quick run on the net would show this is more expensive than Burt's Bees' lip balms. Maybe the price will be justified by a superb performance?
"Ho-hum" is the best phrase to describe the performance of this lip balm. It does moisturize, sure, but it leaves a tacky and somewhat glossy finish which I personally do not appreciate for lip balms. For lip glosses, this is acceptable, but for lip balms, no. It had no remarkable flavors but it does have a very subtle candied smell.
So yeah, price is not justifiable.
Roll Lip Pop is not tinted, by the way. |
Rating: Roll Lip Pop has the typical quirky Too Cool For School packaging which is fun to look at. Without a special and proven functionality, mediocre scent and slightly sticky finish, the product is not remarkable for its price. I will most probably not repurchase and would stick with a Nivea lip balm instead for a better finish and 1/4 of the cost.
Value for money: 2/5
Ingredients: Not available
Performance: 3/5
Overall: 2.5/5
