Presenting five tried and tested products that will surely beat, or at least lessen, the harsh Manila sun.
1. Face Wipe
Facial wipes are useful for times when you take a dreary commute to anywhere via EDSA or some similar, main and polluted thoroughfare, at this heat. Will sweat and probably makeup dripping slowly and stickily, facial wipes can provide a quick two-in-one grooming and cooling.

2. Sleeping Pack
The sun sets, and finally, it listens to your combined curses and pleas on how hot it is. Nope, just kidding: he's still there frying the other side of the globe and unfortunately, night time is not always cool and pleasant. One night time cooling trick for your face is to take a shower, slap on your skincare products and top it with a cooling sleeping pack, preferably one which does not have high amount of denatured alcohol. (Sing in front of the electric fan for full de-stressing and cool down effect.)

3. Lotion
Lotions are notoriously avoided because they leave a sticky feeling, and with this heat, putting on lotion would only add to the tackiness of the skin. However, there are moisturizing products which can do their job while leaving the skin feeling smooth and gel-type lotions are one of them.

4. Cooling Mist
Cooling mists are a quirky, but notable Korean skin care staple for summer. Sure, these mists may not really stand up to their claims of adding vitamins and other beneficial ingredients on the face, but they do provide an immediate, very temporary cooling and moisturizing effect. For best results, put your favorite cooling mist in the fridge for a few hours prior to use and when heat comes, spray away! You're welcome.

5. Sunscreen
Suncreen, like lotion, is often shunned upon by the skincare people, especially makeup users, due to the sticky, oily and heavy feeling left on the skin after application. Finding a matte, non-sticky sunscreen is quite a challenge already, so looking for that plus cooling effect is impossible, right? Not quite. In fact, there are gel-type sunscreen as well, mostly from Japan. With the need for a quick relief against the heat, one would surely reapply these sunscreen every two hours, just as the doctor ordered.
