Review: Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Gel

Remember one of my recent posts regarding aloe vera as a treatment for burns?

I did mention that I have aloe gels on hand. I bought this to relieve the very harsh Manila sun's heat on my skin. Of course, I still use sunscreen! I use this product only after exposure for moisturizing purposes.

From the product description, this product "moisturizes the skin and helps prevent peeling and relieves sunburn." Let's see if it does that.

Availability and Price: Bought off the nearest drugstore for no more than 300 php, this body moisturizer can easily be bought for those unplanned, out-of-town trips.

Packaging: The clear bottle makes it very easy to spot how much product is left. Dispensing of the product is also hassle-free. In all, the packaging is simple yet effective.

Texture and Scent: As is the case with most gel-based products, Hawaiian Tropics's After Sun gel is easy to apply on the skin.  I am not a fan of the scent, though. It smells a bit like medicine, but it is not that bad.

Ingredients: (from ingredient bottle) Aqua, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Allantoin, Panthenol, Quaternium-15, Aloe barbadensis, Chamomilla recutita, Carica papaya, Mangifera indica, Plumeria acutifolia, Colocasia antiquorum, Psidium guajava, Passiflora incarnata, Aleurites moluccana, Tocopheryl Acetate, Simmondsia chinensis, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Parfum, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, CI 19140, CI 42090

Finish: The product dries in no more than a minute after spreading the of product. No sticky film is left after drying, which is what I do not like with lotions which can also relieve the feeling of a sunburn and moisturize the skin.

Rating: While Hawaiian Tropic's After Sun Gel is good enough for moisturizing, you should know that this product is not a remedy for sunburn. The product description may be true, but I may be inclined to try out more versatile after-sun products which have active ingredients for burns. 3/5
