Review: Kose Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil

Before I go on I would like to really point out that I am not in any way sponsored by the manufacturers or sellers of the products I review. Why the reminder, you ask? It's because I do not want to sound like an endorser for this superb product.

I absolutely love Kose's Softymo Deep Cleansing oil.

Availability and Price: I bought this product from sasa.com for $13.30. This product is very hard to purchase here in the Philippines, even from online sellers. About a year ago, I've seen Kose kiosks at the Rustan's Department store in Glorietta. At that time, I was unaware of this amazing item so I was not actively seeking for it. Now that I'm trying to find this, I can't seem to find Kose's kiosks anywhere!

Packaging: The product is dispensed using a pump which surprisingly makes controlling the cleansing oil flow easier (other similar pumps are leaky or hard to control). As the container is transparent, I could verify if I'm up for another order with sasa again.

How to use: For those of you who are new to cleansing oils, you have to start with a dry face! Apply some oil in your hands and rub your palms together. Then dab your oily hands on your face and gently massage your face. I've found the use of cleansing oils as a good way for me to remove sunscreen, and my blackheads and whiteheads. Also, my sebaceous filaments were less prominent after weeks of use of this product - and I say product because I've already tried other cleansing oils and even mineral oil, but THIS is the best.

Ingredients (from cosdna.com): Rice Bran Oil, Mineral Oil, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Triethylhexanoin, Cyclomethicone, Orange, Tocopherol, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Glycerin, Polyglyceryl-2 diisostearate, Trilaureth-4 phosphate, Water, Phenoxyethanol

I'd like to mention here that some people and manufacturers boast that their products do not have petroleum products (specifically mineral oil) in them. I'd like to write an article on that but here is a preview: mineral oil is not bad for your skin or your health (unless of course, you drink it or something).

Performance: I've finally found my HG of cleansers. I'll try to list as many pros as I can because I am now a big, big fan.

- Cleans very thoroughly. It removes sunscreen and I've found that I can do away with a second cleansing.
- Leaves my skin soft and not tight. The feeling of tight skin is what I hate from cleansers as I feel like they are too tough on the skin and they can be drying. But not this cleanser!
- After a few weeks, I noticed my skin is brighter (more even complexion). I'm speculating it's because of the orange (oil?) ingredient.
- Dealt with my sebaceous filaments (SF). Continued use of this product for me has reduced the size of my pores and the "height" of my SFs. I've read somewhere (I think from reddit) that proper cleansing can help make the pores appear smaller. I think my anecdotal evidence can add to that theory.

Overall: I will go through the trouble of picking up EMS packages from Pasay for this HG cleansing oil. 5/5. I'm recommending it to everyone I know! Kaya sana bumalik na ang Kose dito sa Pilipinas!
